CPU frequency and voltage scaling is essential for embedded systems since it greatly improves battery life of the portable devices. The idea of frequency scaling is simple ? if the CPU load is low the OS lowers the CPU clock. If the CPU load rises, the OS also increases the CPU frequency. on Jan 14, 2004; What can I say. Ever since this one came out, it's in the auto start up group on my PPC. If you don't have this one on yours, you are seriously missing out on the true speed your device can give you. I've tried the copy cat programs out there for the speed hacks, but I would have to say, I'll keep coming back to Anton's program. He is definitely an EXPERT programmer and I trust the data on my device to his work!
Does what it advertises, only better. Scalling option works great: by Luis Jorge from Cascais, Portugal
on Sep 1, 2003; The templates are great if you are in a hurry to get your PPC working faster, but the true power comes from being able to overclock to maximum performance by setting the multipliers manualy(MAKE A FULL BACKUP BEFORE TRYING THIS). The scaling option is a must. I now have it on all the time, and by increasing the processor speed acording to CPU load, my PPC now works 80% faster and passed from aprox. 4h of runtime to 3h15~3h30. I managed to get my iPaq 1915 working 80% faster by setting SDRAM clock to 165.9 MHz (don´t know how, but it works!), and the processor speed to 332 MHz. This, from the default values of 99.5 MHz and 199 MHz. I can push it to 400 MHz, but it works slower, because I have to decrease the SDRAM clock to the dafault value, wich also affects the LCD controler speed (read the manual). Finally, Anton replies quickly to any questions you may have. I also recomend that you try his Pocket PC Mark to find out how fast your PPC is, now that you WILL buy Hack master (trust me, you will think it was a bargain, specialy if you have an iPaq 1910 or iPaq 1915, wich has intel PXA255). I now search his software list before searching anywhere else. Thanks, Anton!
