PPC Tablet 4.0 software uses a Pocket PC screen to emulate one or more "virtual" input devices, such as keyboard, keypad, macro keys, touchpad and tablet, in order to remotely control a desktop or laptop PC, or to complement the PC's existing input hardware. PPC Tablet is composed of three modules -- the server, client and designer. The client module, deployed on the Pocket PC device, sends pre-defined input signals to the server module on a host PC through an ActiveSync connection or any TCP/IP network, either wired or wireless. The input signals can include single key strokes, key combinations, key macros, and mouse behaviors. The designer module can be used to create a new layout profile, or modify or delete existing profiles. The program has been tested extensively in wireless environments, including 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, Bluetooth ActiveSync, Bluetooth PAN, and Bluetooth LAN profiles.

PPC Tablet 4.0 is designed with network security in mind. The connection between the Pocket PC and host PC is protected by 512-bit RSA cryptography at the user's option. The user can use a Windows account to connect the Pocket PC to the host PC. If there is no user account supplied, upon initial connection from a Pocket PC device, the server module will prompt the PC user to accept or reject the connection. These security measures provide reasonable protection for the communication, while maintaining good application performance.

The software comes with over 10 pre-defined profiles, the major ones including: Default Devices, Remote File Browser, Display Feedback, Tablet Only, Personal Data, PowerPoint Presentation and Windows Media Player. The Default Devices profile includes a touchpad, a tablet and a numeric keypad. The Remote File System profile provides access to the system drives on the host computer (hard drives, CD/DVD drives, USB drives and so on). The Display Feedback profile works like a remote desktop application. The Tablet Only profile includes a single tablet. The Personal Data provides a set of buttons which users can customize with their own personal information to speed up repetitive data entry in electronic forms. The PowerPoint Presentation profile includes a set of pre-defined buttons to start, stop and navigate through a slide show, as well as a touchpad that can navigate the pointer or draw on a PowerPoint presentation. The Windows Media Player profile provides a set of buttons to control media playback and sound volume in Windows Media Player. All these profiles can be further extended by the users based on their individual needs. There are several additional profiles available for download on our website, including those for Firefox, Internet Explorer, iTunes, Winamp and OneNote.

In addition to pre-defined profiles, users can create new profiles with the designer module. The designer supports the creation, modification and deletion of software-emulated input components, such as key buttons, mouse buttons, touchpad or tablet. The size, location, label and corresponding action of each input component are all customizable and saved into a specified profile.

PPC Tablet is compatible with all Pocket PC 2003, Pocket PC 2003 SE, and Windows Mobile 5.0 devices (including VGA-capable units), as well as Pocket PC 2002 devices with .NET Compact Framework installed. A great remote control program for Pocket PC

This is a great program that can remote control nearly any application running on a PC. The only requirement is that the application can be controlled from the keyboard which is the case for most Windows applications. The software really works as advertised and is very easy to configure.

Easy to use as a PC remote control

This product has been very useful as a remote control for my PC, either to run a presentation or to play music. Especially when I use the wireless connection, I can control the computer anywhere in my house or office without a line of sight (which was required by infrared remotes). I was also able to create my own buttons using the Designer application and have it run particular commands on my computer.

Easy setup - controling computer in under 2 minutes

As a professor I use PowerPoint and an interactive classroom program extensively in my classroom and in committee meetings. I have looked for several years for a program to control my main computer via wifi from my PPC. This control suite does all I have ever asked for and more. In addition to it's built in controls the author was kind enough to include a design module for users to create their own input pannels. I'll be creating at least two almost immediately. This program made connection painless and control absolute! If you have ANY need to remotely control your computer; presentation, media, remote mousing, surfing or whatever, do not hesitate to download the trial. You'll be hooked immediately!
