Mahjong is a puzzle game of Chinese origin dating to over two thousand years which has gained enormous popularity to become one of the world's most popular board games. Hexacto's edition of the popular ancient game features a unique storyline based on traditional Chinese mythology.
The objective is simple, but so captivating - you must match sets of tiles together to clear them from the board and then move on to the next level. Simple, intuitive gameplay and stunning graphics make The Emperor's Mahjong game a must for new and experienced players of this captivating game!
In The Emperor's Mahjong, the Emperor challenges you to the ultimate quest for wisdom. You need to master spheres of knowledge and collect five gems for safe passage to the final challenge: the meeting of the twelve Emperors. Capturing the crucial and final sixth gem, will make you Emperor of China!
The Emperor's Mahjong features 72 different layouts categorized in six themes. Players can also create and save their own layouts by way of the Layout Editor. Three game modes are available. Traditional Shanghai is the most common game mode, just click on tiles by pairs to remove them from the board. The Traditional Shanghai (2 players) mode is a turn-based cooperative match until the timer determines a winner after the board is cleared. And finally, there's the Emperor's Challenge where players try to reach the rank of Emperor by clearing all 72 levels and accumulating Wisdoms.
The Emperor's Mahjong features an authentic traditional atmosphere, with rich colors and ambient music that will literally transport you to ancient China - Have fun, but be wise!

on Aug 26, 2005 - Solved 59 of the first 60 puzzles ... You need to solve all 60 to unlock the last 12 (the Emperor puzzles) ... Been stuck on the 11th Crafts puzzle for over a month now (100 tiles in 4 minutes) ... but not giving up! Fun Game, and Pocket PC is a natural platform for this type of game

on Sep 15, 2003 - I enjoy this game very much. The graphics are very attractive, the sounds are nice, the layouts are challenging, and most importantly, it runs flawlessly. Many game options and play variations. I had originally got it for my wife, but find myself clicking away on tiles for hours. highly reccommended.

Simple! Simple! Simple! That's my philosophy in life. Everything is so complex these days, that simplicity has become a luxury to me! Emperor's Mahjong is a fantastic game for the "not-so-advanced" video game player, such as myself. I found this game to be very challenging, yet simple enough to comprehend and enjoy.
As the technology world has grown, so has the complexity of the games available! And for a "non-techy" who only knows Solitaire, this has led to many boring times! Then someone told me about The Emperor's Mahjong. Although I was skeptical, I decided to give it a try.
First, I was surprised to know how easy it was to download and install. After downloading the full version, all I had to do was double click the installer, and I was ready to go! At first glance, The Emperor's Mahjong was intriguing. There are several different views and categories to choose from. The complete layout of the main menu screen is informational and attractive. I didn't have to dig through multiple menus and help screens to find instructions on how to play. It was all laid out for me, plain and simple, and I began playing right away!
The concept of Mahjong is to match tiles. Once matched, the tiles disappear, getting you closer to the blank screen. Once you have matched all the tiles, you win! There are different levels and different layouts for the tiles, which keeps it interesting. So while you're learning, you can start on the "easiest" level, and progress as you get faster. I also loved the fact that there were different types of games to play. You can opt for a one-time game under whichever layout you prefer, or you can take the Emperor's Challenge. The Emperor's Challenge requires you to complete 5 levels of 12 layouts, and is very progressive and involved...a GREAT game for travel!
Another great trait of this game is that it saves your place on the last game you were playing when you shut down the device. All you have to do is turn the device back on again and open the game and "POOF," there it is! Scores can also be saved in the memory bank, so you can compare to your last time of play. There is even an option for 2 players! Altogether, this is a well-thought out and challenging game. I would recommend this game to anyone looking to have some good, "simple" fun!
