A Competent App

on Jul 19, 2006 - Depending on how one views the usefulness of this app, one might describe it well within a range between "cute" to "cool". From a well stocked palette of facial features, the user selects a close approximation of say, a nose, which can then be stretched or contracted individually or collectively with other features. There is sufficient flexibility here to arrive at an acceptable, and sometimes startlingly accurate likeness. The tools for manipulating the features are slightly laggy on my handheld, but not enough to be disturbing. Noticably lacking is a prompt to save ones work before closing the app. Updating a comment from a previous reviewer, I found no evidence of spyware in this app, neither during trial nor after registration.

A fun little game, but don't let the thorns prick you

on Jul 17, 2004 - The game itself is very fun, almost enough so that I'd consider paying for the full version. Almost. The cons were enough, however, to prompt me to attempt to uninstall it. In my ignorance I had failed to realize that adware had reached the PDA level, but this game enlightened me. Even with the game shut down, I continued to get pop-up screens promoting other VITO Technology products. That was enough. Then came the un-installation. The program installs in two seperate parts. The first time I tried to uninstall, I did the wrong half first. After re-installing that half, I managed to fully uninstall the program. Or did I? The "Remove Programs" box doesn't list it anymore, but a 165k Sketchartist.exe file still exists in a folder called VITOTechnology. The file is undeletable because the file "may be in use." So, in conclusion, I found that it wasn't worth the trouble.

Great way to remember faces

on Nov 2, 2003 - This program is great fun. It is intuitive and simple to use. It is great for drawing co-workers, but I've found it has really helped me to notice the features of people. Typically, I've had trouble matching names with faces. This program, surprisingly, has helped me notice features of those "non-descript" people that I could never remember before. I know notice the subtle differences between droopy eyes and old eyes.
