Socket Wi-Fi Companion is an intuitive and graphical utility that displays your connection properties at a glance. There’s even a Power Save utility, so you can adjust the power settings when using battery power.
Basic features:
Wi-Fi Companion provides users with a friendly, easy-to-use interface to manage WLAN connectivity. The main page icons provide single tap access to browse the web or check email, find WLANs in range, install security certificates, view IP addresses or modify profiles.
Advanced features:
The Ping Utility enables users to check network connectivity to another device or host network. Trace Route enables users to identify the number of hops to connect to the Internet and possible sources of delay.

on Dec 17, 2005 - Brilliant product - worked straight off on my HP4700 in VGA mode - finder optionally gives all the required details, channel, strength, MAC address, b/g modes - ping and tracert work well - straight through two NAT routers - (73ms to google) - lots of detailed packet counts within protocols, inc error rates - and the graphics are excellent - I am well impressed!

Must-have when juggling multiple connections

on Dec 16, 2005 - It allows me to connect at home via WPA and at work over a secured connection, and I always know what access point is available and what the connection status is. The "Preferred" list is great once everything is set up. Until then, it''s great not having to scroll the itsy-bitsy WLAN list of access points my PocketPC 2003 SE has by default (just 2.5 lines!!). This is what Microsoft should have done in the first place!
