What’s new in Skype for Pocket PC 2.1
Minimum device requirements
You’ll need a Pocket PC with a minimum 400Mhz processor plus a WiFi or 3G connection.
Please visit our Developer Zone to see a list of supported devices.
Upgrading
If you already have a previous version of Skype installed on your Windows Mobile device, please uninstall it before installing this version.
Network usage
When using Skype over 3G data networks, please be aware that you will be subject to data usage costs in accordance with your service provider tariff. Please avoid using Skype on 3G when roaming abroad, as this can be expensive. Remember, if you are using WiFi or an unlimited 3G data plan you can talk as much as you like for free.
Use a headset for best quality
Skype calls are made over the loudspeaker, so we recommend using a headset for best quality, otherwise you’ll need to adjust volume accordingly.
Contacts and group chat
On most Windows Mobile devices, Skype works best when you have less than 100 contacts and fewer than three group chat sessions open at any one time.

Use SkypeOut to call from Skype to traditional landlines or mobiles.

SkypeIn is a phone number your friends can call. You answer in Skype.

Skype Voicemail takes your calls when you're busy or offline.

on Jun 11, 2007 - I have been using Skype to make cheap and clear IDD calls. As a Skype user (SkypeIn, SkypeOut, etc) I find this application is an excellent mobile version of Skype for PC. Two more features, than this app will be perfect: 1) Ability to send SMS (like in the PC version) 2) Voice is on external speaker, where it should be on phone speaker.

Good for business trips

on Nov 3, 2006 - I found that I don't tend to use this much at home, but when I go to foreign countries on business, it's a real lifesaver. I use my Pocket PC to connect to the WiFi in the hotel, and then I can call my family back at home for next to nothing. That way I don't have to pay roaming charges or hotel phone bills.

Say goodbye to your fixed phone

on Nov 2, 2006 - I just got a HTC tytn Pocket pc and downloaded the latest version of Skype. I am quite impressed. Pro's: Wherever I connect to Wifi I can make free Skype calls to my friends all over the world. I can see when they are available to Skype. I don't need to turn on my PC. It works perfectly at my home wifi (belkin 802.11g) and at the office. Skype is offering free calls to all landlines and mobiles in the US, allowing me to speak for hours with my best friends across the country for free. Con's: Skype needs to fix the audio. Currently for some reason all calls use the speakerphone and should be fixed. However using my stereo headset it works like a charm.
