This is a very useful program for those who need to record their heart

on Dec 25, 2004 - This is a very useful program for those who need to record their heart rate themselves. A press of the ?Select? button of the PDA will start the program, and after counting 10 pulses, another press of the same key will display the heart rate in beats per minute. The data is automatically recorded and historical data can be displayed on the screen or stored as text file. Editing the data is easy. The recorded data can be viewed in graphical form. A calendar can be displayed showing data for each day of the month. Averages can be displayed if more than one reading is take a day. The program does not allow reading in data stored in a CSV file, nor does it allow historical data to be stored in this format. This, however, is not an important limitation, since (unlike Blood Pressure data) it is usually not necessary for most users to keep historical records of just their heart rate. Those who monitor their heart rate regularly usually do so as part of the recording of their blood pressure, and store their heart rate readings there. SoundTells Heart Rate Calculator is a unique program as their does appear to be any alternatives available. It is a very useful program that meets an important demand in the market place.

An excellent program

on Dec 15, 2004 - This is an excellent program for those who want to keep a record of their BP over time. Data entry from drop-down lists is easy, and historical data can be viewed, edited and saved in a text file. Data can also be viewed in graphical form, and the limitations of the small PDA screen is overcome by alowing the user to view data for different spans of time (a week, a month, a year). Historical data can also be read in from a CSV file, and can be saved (in case a backup is needed) in a CSV file. A calendar view shows BP readings for each day of the month, and the user has the option of displaying actural of average readings (if more than one reading is taken a day). BP Tracker has a number of features not found in other BP tracking programs. For example, some BP tracker programs do not allow the user to read in historical data (implicitly assuming that those who purchase a BP tracking program are recording their BP for the first time!), although they often do allow saving data in CSV format. Viewing data in graphical form (line or bar chart) is cumbersome in some BP tracker programs as different data spans each a week long need to be specified (by using date pickers) in order to overcome the limitation of the small screen. Still others are excruciatingly slow, especially when one has to edit data that has been previously entered. Having tried many BP trackers, I think that SoundTell?s BP Tracker is, on balance, better than all the others. It has two minor short-comings: (a) it does not have a ?Note? feature, which is often useful when one wants to record changes in medication on certain dates, and (b) the dots of the graph are fixed at too big a size. While this may not matter when one is displaying, say, data for one week, it makes the graph difficult to read when one is displaying a large amount of data. It would be better if the size of the dots in the graph are programmed to vary inversely with the amount of data being graphed. These are, however, minor annoyances, which I am sure, will be fixed in the next version of what is an excellent program.
