When you have a fever, keeping a daily record of your temperature with multiple recordings helps you and your doctor determine what is causing the fever and how it can be treated. The pattern of a fever can help suggest the reason for the body's increased temperature.
The Temperature Tracker simplifies temperature data logging.
The software automatically saves temperature, time, and location of the measurement.
In addition to being a convenient data logger the software is also a voluble
tool for temperature longitudinal trends analysis. This longitudinal analysis
may help you and your doctor decide what is causing the fever and how it can
be treated.
Features
- The intuitive interface for data logging.
- Oversized numbers for easy data entry.
- Monitor the changes of temperature over time on the longitudinal graphs.
- The Calendar view shows the average and maximum body temperature day by day. The calendar also marks day's with fever or abnormally low temperature.
- The History display allows one to view all historic data.
- You can save all data into a text file for copying to PC or sharing with your physician.
- You can also save all data into a CSV file (comma delimited text file) for backup, archival, and editing.
- You can edit the CSV file on the desktop PC with Excel, Notepad, or any other text editing software.
- You can load data from the CSV file into the Tracker software.
- The tracker allows switching between temperature units (°F - Degrees Fahrenheit and °C -Degrees Celsius ) at any time.
- The software contains the ranges of normal and abnormal temperatures for
different locations of temperature measurements.
When to Measure Temperature
Measure your temperature several times several times a day in both the morning and evening. Wait at least half an hour after smoking, vigorous exercise or a hot bath.
Normal Temperature
The average normal temperature is 37 °C (98.6 °F). The normal temperature varies from person to person. The temperature also changes throughout the day. Normally temperature is lowest in the early morning and rising by 0.5°C (0.9°F) toward the end of the day. The temperature will also rise by as much as 0.6°C (1°F) as a result of exercise. A woman's body temperature also varies by as much as 0.6°C (1°F) through her menstrual cycle, peaking in the middle of the cycle (after ovulation).
Abnormal Temperature
An oral temperature above 37.8 °C (100 °F) or a rectal or ear temperature
above 38.3 °C (101 °F) indicates a fever. In most cases, a fever is
a part of your body's natural defense against infection. Fever increases your
body’''''s ability to fight infection. However, in rare cases high fever can
induce epileptic seizures. Always call your doctor about a high fever.
If fever is increasingly uncomfortable, you may want to treat fever with cold
compress or medications. Cold compress is especially effective on the forehead
and around the elbows where major blood vessels are close to the skin. Wrap
wet cloth around the elbows, put another wet cloth on the forehead. This method
is effective in both adults and children.
In most cases fever does NOT need to be controlled by medications. If you need
to lower your temperature, use acetaminophen (Tylenol). Ibuprofen (Advil or
Motrin) and Aspirin also reduce temperature but can lead to internal bleeding
and/or other unpleasant consequences.
Rectal or ear temperature of less than 36.1 °C (97 °F) indicates an
abnormally low body temperature (hypothermia).

on Oct 16, 2005 - The software installed with no problems on my iPAQ. Temperature input is very intuitive. The graph feature is very useful. I can see when I should stop taking Tylenol. Overall very useful program.
